This year's Chicago Blues Festival (June 7-10 in Grant Park) will be celebrating, among other things, the 30th anniversary of Billy Branch's Sons of Blues. This group, originally featuring the sons of famous blues musicians, formed at the Berlin Jazz Festival in 1977 and has since gone through many lineups and traveled throughout the world. On the eve of this momentous milestone, we spoke with harmonica player and Chicago native Billy Branch about his life, his music and his Blues in the Schools program, which will soon be heading south of the border.
